From 04-09 October 2011, the first German PyCon conference will take place in Leipzig. As the first regional Python conference of this format, it illustrates that Python is strongly gaining ground compared to other programming languages. The conference will offer a diverse program of talks, two of which will be given by Dr. Yves J. Hilpisch, Managing Director of Visixion GmbH, with a focus on financial applications. The majority of talks at the conference will be given in German language. The first talk of Dr. Yves J. Hilpisch is titled “Rapid Financial Engineering mit Python”. The talk will explain and illustrate how Python can be used to efficiently address financial problems and to rapidly develop financial applications which are both
- high performing and
- easy-to-maintain.
The second talk titled “Automatisierung von numerischer Forschung mit Python” shows how to make numerical research more efficient in that a number of typical tasks is automated. Three simple, yet convenient, approaches to reduce manual work in the context of numerical research are:
- Python iterations over arbitrary lists
- PyTables as a simple yet powerful database
- functions to generate Latex code automatically
In addition, Dr. Hilpisch gives a brief (“lightening”) talk about DEXISION, our Derivatives Analytics suite.
